Ebenezer

Peace be with you.  How have you been? We are back in the D.C. area after serving the ministry’s Fall New Missionary Training.  We are in the D.C. area now to raise funds for our personal ministry needs.  We will explain this in full detail on the second page of this ministry update.

2014 Fall New Staff Class

We helped commission 85 new missionaries during this new staff training.  Some of them were previously short term (2 years of temporary service) missionaries overseas.  In those 2 years, many of them came to surrender their lives for long term missionary service.  Another part of this group had professional careers and came to join us full time as missionaries as well.  We are thankful for and impressed by their obedience to God’s calling to serve in different locations with different strategies for His glory.

One of these new missionary couples were born into a middle eastern country and family with a strong Muslim heritage.  They became followers of Jesus yet were afraid of what friends might do to them.   But God gave them a vision, and said “I want you to live without fear and shame.”  Now God has given them the opportunity to come to America, go to university, and serve in international student ministry.  Our new friends have asked us especially to pray for their family and friends back home to believe in God without fear or shame.

Another of these new missionaries came to know God in middle school.  Her friend invited her to a  youth group retreat and her life changed afterwards.  She went to college and lead in many different ways.  She shared the Gospel, discipled women, and she saw her disciples share the gospel.  After she graduated, she taught special education classes but she struggled about not being able to speak to others about knowing Jesus.  She felt restricted as teacher and decided to join with Cru full-time.  She did this hyper aware that her non believing family would reject her for becoming a missionary, but she knew she had to trust the Lord.  She will be serving with Cru to reach High School students with the gospel.  She especially asked us to pray that her non-believing family members would have a change of heart towards Jesus.

Jung Hye received her 15 Years of Service Award this month.  She said “I felt like it was yesterday when I joined with Cru and it’s already been 15 years!”  We think of this as a memorial stone of God’s love, grace and blessing over the years.

We are thankful to the Lord who leads us.  We are thankful to our Father who helps us daily.  We are thankful to the King who prepared for us faithful ministry partners like you. We are encouraged thinking of your prayerful support as we do this ministry.  We love and bless you.  Thank you.

Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer, saying, "Thus far has the LORD helped us."   (1 Samuel 7:12)

Prayer Requests
  • Ministry Partner Development: We will be raising financial support for our ministry during the month of October.  As of today we have a shortfall of $1,300 monthly.  Pray that God sends us faithful ministry partners to provide for our family.
  • Family: Pray for Jung Hye’s mom’s health to get better.  This can only happen through the God’s work.  Pray the Lord takes care of our family members health and needs, and pray that they grow deeper in their relationships with God.
