Partnership

Shalom!  Peace be with you.  How has the change of season treated you?  It’s fall in Orlando which means it’s still about 80°+, i.e. still hot.  We pray you and your family stay healthy this season.

A few days after finishing the International Orality Network conference, we left to serve at the International Justice Mission (IJM) Staff Conference.  This was the event we couldn’t tell you about last month for security reasons.  IJM is a Christian mission organization that has rescued  more than 45,000 men, women, and children from slavery and other forms of violence all over the world.  They’ve worked with police to throw slave owners in jail and have put slave traders out of business in different parts of the world.  Most of their staff work in high risk situations and areas which is why we couldn’t give you more information about the conference.

Cru has been working with IJM for years.  In the last 8 years we’ve had more than 17 interns be trained in partnership with Cru and IJM in leading justice Bible studies, discipling others in God’s heart for justice, speaking on justice at conferences and weekly meetings, and going on justice summer missions working in anti-trafficking ministry.  This has been done to great affect in students lives!

About 1,000 IJM staff serving in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, and the Americas gathered together for first time in their 20 year history.  This event was so important that IJM temporarily stopped all ministry around the world so all their staff could participate.  Cru’s special partnership with IJM is why they asked us to support them in preparing this very meaningful time.  Through the IJM staff conference they were refreshed for the mission, they shared about what God has already done, and they cast vision for the future.  They are praying to see God end modern day slavery in the next 12 years.  Most of the IJM staff are lawyers but they still go to the dark places to save people.  Hearing their stories, we were impressed by the self-sacrifice and Godly love of those who choose to literally risk their lives to help rescue people out of slavery.

We are so blessed and thankful to have met IJM staff from all over the world and to join in partnership together.  In the same way, we are alway impressed by and thankful for your faithful partnership with us in Christ.  Blessings and Thank You!

“However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me--the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace.” (Acts 20:24)
